FARM TOURS
All tours must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.
We are a working farm and are APOINTMENT ONLY, we DO NOT accept WALK-INS.
Our hour-long tours includes an education on alpacas and fiber processing from raw to finished yarn and various products, and an opportunity to spend time with the alpacas in the pasture where you can feed them by hand. It’s our pleasure to provide an educational experience that you and your group will never forget! We love our jobs as educators and we strive to instill a passion of learning and caring for animals, animal husbandry, sustainable fiber farming and environmental consciousness!
What to expect
Tours at Nimbus Farm offer the chance to see a variety of animals in our care, including horses, ducks, chickens, Maremma livestock guardian dogs, and of course alpacas on our peaceful 40 acre farm in Berryville VA. As part of your tour you will also see various plants, gardens and trees, depending on the time of year for your visit you may get to enjoy some seasonal fruit and vegetables. You may even be lucky enough to see some of our local wildlife.
Picnic
A picnic is also an option at the end of the tour if you BYO items. (No glass or alcohol. NO FEEDING THE ANIMALS.)
Picnics will not be held in the alpacas pasture for their safety and yours, however you may chose one of our other scenic locations.
PLEASE take your trash with you, or use one of our available trash receptacles.
Please try to limit picnic times to approximately 45 minutes so that other tours may use the tables.
Safety
Safety is our number one priority and there are several guidelines that must be followed on the farm. There are inherent risks on a working farm and we take every precaution to ensure guest safety and satisfaction.
All rules must be followed, if you, or a member of your party, does not comply you will be asked to leave without a refund.
For your safety and the safety of the animals respect posted signs and verbal directions during your visit.
*You may not open gates or enter pastures.
*No touching/petting the livestock guardian dogs without permission of a staff member and a staff member present.
*No feeding the farm animals unless the food was given to you by a staff member.
*while alpacas are docile, majestic and inquisitive, they can also be unpredictable and may spit and kick. Alpacas do not like the top of their head being touched or reached for.
This is NOT a petting zoo, most of the alpacas are shy and while they may eat from your hand or investigate you, they are not “cuddly” and prefer to keep a comfortable distance.
